(May 27, 2026 – Iqaluit, Nunavut) Today, Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI) Chief Returning Officer Joe Kunuk announced that Gloria Uluqsi was elected President of NTI with 19.6% of votes.
Gloria Uluqsi will serve as President until December 2028.
NTI President is a core member of the NTI Board of Directors and Executive Committee, as well as the Chairperson, Director and/or Trustee of the following entites and organizations:
- Makigiaqta Inuit Training Corporation: Delivering programs related to Inuit training and education
- Nunavut Inuit Resource Revenue Trust: Managing resource revenue from Inuit Owned Lands
- Nunavut Elders Supplemental Trust: Providing a monthly payment to Elders from NTI’s portion of resource royalties, a program called Uqqujjait Innarnut
- Nunavut Social Development Council: Established under Article 32 of the Nunavut Agreement to facilitate Inuit participation in social and cultural development (functions currently exercised by Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated)
- Nunavut Tunngavik Foundation: Delivering programs related to promoting Inuit languages, culture and healing from residential schools
In addition, NTI President also chairs the Membership meetings of the following organizations by virtue of NTI being a Member of these organizations:
- NTI Economic and Social Initiatives Inc.: Holding company for Atuqtuarvik Corporation that provides financing for Inuit Firms
- Igluvut Corporation: Aims to provide new affordable homes and affordable housing programs for Inuit
- Aqqusariaq: Supports healing in Nunavut by addressing the roots of trauma and substance use through holistic, culturally grounded, and inclusive care
