Arbitrator Rules Government of Canada and Government of Nunavut are in Breach of the Nunavut Agreement regarding Inuit Employment

(May 10, 2023, Iqaluit, Nunavut) An Arbitrator in the dispute between Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI) and the Government of Canada (GoC) and Government of Nunavut (GN) concerning the implementation of commitments in the Nunavut Agreement towards fully Inuit representative work forces has ruled in favor of NTI.
The Arbitration is the final stage in a dispute initiated by NTI in 2018 under Article 38 of the Nunavut Agreement.

Community-wide screening for tuberculosis in Pangnirtung

(May 8, 2023, Iqaluit, NU)  – The Chief Public Health Office of Nunavut and the Department of Health, in partnership with Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI), are advising residents of Pangnirtung that a community-wide screening clinic for tuberculosis (TB) is scheduled for later this year to address the number of active and latent cases in the community.

(April 25, 2023, Iqaluit, Nunavut) The Government of Nunavut (GN) has filed to appeal the Nunavut Court of Justice’s decision to allow the Inuktut Education Discrimination lawsuit to proceed to trial. Nunavut Tunngavik Inc (NTI) and the Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) asked the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) to investigate the actions of Amira Gill, Nadya Gill and Karima Manji in applying for enrolment under the Nunavut Agreement.
