Isolation Kits for Individuals Impacted by COVID-19

(November 23, 2020, Iqaluit) Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI) announces Isolation Kits to provide supports and supplies for Nunavut Inuit directly affected by COVID-19.  Isolation Kits will be provided to Nunavut Inuit who have been diagnosed with COVID-19 or are required to isolate for 14 days as a result of contact tracing.

NTI strongly encourages Inuit to follow the orders of the Chief Public Health Officer.

Isolation Kits are intended to support Nunavut Inuit to stay home. The kits will assist Inuit with food, cleaning supplies, a mask making kit, baby supplies and learning resources for children. Supplies will vary on the household and the information provided to NTI.

For communities with community transmission, applications are not necessary, including Arviat at this time. NTI has partnered with the Hamlet of Arviat and the Arctic Co-op to prepare hampers and has allocated $125,000 towards the hampers.

For communities with confirmed cases, including Rankin Inlet and Whale Cove at this time, isolation kit application forms do not require signature by a health care provider.

All other Nunavut communities and Inuit living outside of the Nunavut Settlement Area require a signature by the health care provider.

For more information on NTI’s Isolation Kit Program, please contact your local health centre or email COVID-19@tunngavik.com. To ensure anonymity, supplies and supports will not be given unless the affected person(s) reach out to the local health centre or the NTI COVID email address for an application form.  Any information provided will be strictly confidential.

This is a voluntary program and Inuit are not obligated to receive this kit if they do not wish.

The NTI Isolation Kit was developed with Government of Canada’s Indigenous Community
Support Funding.
