(November 27, 2024 – Iqaluit, Nunavut) Nunavut Tunngavik Foundation (NTF) Chairperson Aluki Kotierk is pleased to announce the five (5) finalists for the Inuktuuqta! Inuktut Writing Prize. The finalists are Donna Adams, Meghan Alivaktuk, Kevin Kablutsiak, Savanna Kiliktee, and Meghan Ungalaq.
On Wednesday, December 4th, the Inuktuuqta! Inuktut Writing Prize Gala will take place at the Aqsarniit Hotel and Conference Centre in Iqaluit, Nunavut where winners will be announced from 5th to 1st place. One of the finalists will be awarded the grand prize of $80,000 and supports to continue their writing over a year to develop their submission into a full-length book. Four additional prizes will be awarded for $10,000, $5000, $3000, and $2000.
The Inuktuuqta! Inuktut Writing Prize Gala will include performances from Nunavut artists Terry Uyarak of Igloolik, Jada and Jody Tulurialik from Taloyoak, Donovan Tootoo of Rankin Inlet, Joey Nauyuk from Pangnirtung, Nancy Mike, Daneil and Eemali Kolola of Iqaluit; with a feature performance from Elisapie.
