(December 1, 2003 — Iqaluit, Nunavut) Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. will broadcast a four-part information series on the accomplishments the organization made during 2003.
The broadcasts, aired on community radio stations across the territory, start December 15, 2003 and will be completed December 18, 2003. They are designed to provide information and details about NTI, its mandate and its activities during the past year.
Well-known broadcaster and former CBC personality Moses Atagoyuk will host the Inuktitut broadcasts. Community radio stations will air the programs at 9 p.m., local community time. In Iqaluit, the broadcasts will air on Raven Radio at 6 p.m.
The broadcasts are the result of the desire of the NTI Executive Members to better inform Inuit beneficiaries of the initiatives that are being undertaken to better the quality of life in Nunavut.
The first broadcast, scheduled to air Dec. 15, will feature NTI President Cathy Towtongie. First Vice-President James Eetoolook will follow Dec. 16. Second Vice-President Raymond Ningeocheak will communicate with beneficiaries Dec. 17 and Vice-President of Finance Paul Kaludjak will wrap up the series Dec. 18.
Each member of the Executive will focus on the portfolios they are responsible for, including implementation contract negotiations, the Plain Language version of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement, land and water use in Nunavut, wildlife and the emerging fisheries and the fiscal health of NTI.
