Nunavut Tunngavik Foundation Opens Applications for Skills and Employment Advancement Scholarships

Iqaluit, Nunavut – August 19, 2026 – The Nunavut Tunngavik Foundation (NTF) is now accepting applications for its Skills and Employment Advancement Scholarship, supporting Inuit pursuing training and education that leads to employment and career opportunities.

The scholarship provides $1,500 per recipient for recognized programs that are four weeks or longer and focus on trades, employment skills or upgrading. Eligible programs may include pre-trades programs, Personal Support Worker training, Adult Basic Education, PASS and foundation programs.

The NTF Board of Directors amended the Scholarship Program Policy in 2025 and discontinued the Foundation’s Post-Secondary Scholarship Program due to overlap with similar funding available through Makigiaqta Inuit Training Corporation. The Foundation will continue to provide Skills and Employment Advancement Scholarships, as well as its Culture and Healing Programs.

The NTF has provided scholarships and other programming to Inuit across Nunavut for more than a decade. The Skills and Employment Advancement Scholarship continues this commitment by helping Inuit access training, develop skills and pursue employment opportunities.

Applications are available through NTI’s website and can be submitted by mail, email, in person or through a local Community Liaison Officer.
