Igluvut Corporation Appoints CEO Joe Adla Kunuk
and Chair of the Board Raymond Quqshuun
(August 25, 2026 – Iqaluit, Nunavut) – The Board of Directors of the Igluvut Corporation are pleased to announce the appointment of Joe Adla Kunuk as the organization’s inaugural Chief Executive Officer, as well as Raymond Quqshuun as Chair of the Igluvut Corporation’s Board of Directors.
The appointments mark an important milestone in the development of Igluvut Corporation as Nunavut’s Inuit-led housing organization and signal the organization’s transition from establishing its governance and strategic foundation to building the capacity, partnerships and programs needed to increase housing opportunities for Inuit across Nunavut.
As Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kunuk will be responsible for establishing Igluvut’s operations, building strategic partnerships, advancing the organization’s priorities, and leading the development and implementation of its housing programs and initiatives.

As Chair of Igluvut Corporation’s Board of Directors, Raymond Quqshuun will help ensure the Board operates effectively by leading meetings, facilitating discussion, supporting clear decision-making, and maintaining a productive board culture.
“I am an Inuk born in a tent in the summer and live in an Igloo in the Winter. I was raised by my grandparents, and they taught me the Inuit Traditional way of life. Having spent my life in Nunavut and much of my career working in community administration, housing and governance, I understand how important housing is to the strength and well-being of our communities,” said Raymond Quqshuun. “I am proud to be part of Igluvut and look forward to contributing my experience as we work to create more housing opportunities for Inuit across Nunavut.”

Joe Adla Kunuk, CEO
With over 40 years of leadership experience, Mr. Kunuk is widely respected for his contributions to Inuit organizations, public service, and circumpolar governance. He has served in several of Nunavut’s most senior roles, including CEO of NTI, President of Nunavut Arctic College, Deputy Minister, and Mayor of Iqaluit. His work has focused on advancing Inuit rights, strengthening institutions, and supporting progress in governance, education, culture, language, and economic development.
Raymond Quqshuun, Chair of the Board
Igluvut Corporation is pleased to recognize Raymond Quqshuun as Chair of the Board. Originally from Gjoa Haven, Mr. Quqshuun has more than three decades of leadership experience in housing, finance, governance, and community development. He has held senior positions with the Municipality of Gjoa Haven and the Nunavut Water Board, and has served on numerous community and Inuit organizations, including the Kitikmeot Inuit Association. He also contributed to Nunavut 3000 (Igluliuqatigiinig), the territory’s housing strategy launched in 2022. His knowledge and leadership will be invaluable as Igluvut builds its operations and works to address housing needs across Nunavut.
