(March 31, 2021 – Iqaluit, Nunavut) Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI) President Aluki Kotierk welcomes the 2nd roll-out of the Nunavut Government Employee Survey (NGES) to all Government of Nunavut (GN) and Government of Canada employees in Nunavut.
The NGES comes from a commitment after the settlement of the 2015 lawsuit against the federal government for its failure to live up to its obligations to the Nunavut Agreement. The results of the NGES will be used by governments and Inuit organizations to find ways to increase Inuit employment in governments to representative levels of the Nunavut population, as required Article 23 of the Nunavut Agreement.
“The NGES focuses on the main areas of interest we have as employers – Education, training, barriers, Inuit employment plans, language and Inuit culture, hiring practices and support. The data that is collected from this survey will be essential to ensuring Inuit employment numbers are representative of our population. We know that when Inuit are served and represented by Inuit, the quality of care and services we see is exceptional. ”, said Kotierk
This confidential survey runs from April 6 – June 1, 2021. All government employees are encouraged to participate in the survey during work hours.
Survey results and analysis regarding the Nunavut Inuit Labor Force Analysis are available on the NTI website: https://nilfa.tunngavik.com/
