(October 31, 2003 — Iqaluit, Nunavut) Leaders from Nunavut’s Inuit organizations will gather in Sanikiluaq for the Annual General Meeting of Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. next week, Nov. 3-7.
The meeting will draw nearly 100 participants to the community, including the NTI executive and board of directors. Board directors from the three Regional Inuit Organizations will also participate.
AGM delegates will discuss a number of issues important to Inuit, including budgets for Inuit organizations for the next fiscal year, a review of Nunavut’s economic development, NTI bylaw amendments, the proposed Nunavut Wildlife Act and NTI’s election policy and procedures.
NTI will also conduct its regular quarterly board meeting while in Sanikiluaq. In addition, the Nunavut Social Development Council, Tunngavik Benefits Inc. and Nunavut Economic and Social Initiatives will all hold board meetings and Annual General Meetings in Sanikiluaq.
A feast with community members is planned during the week.
