Nomination Period Opens for NTI Election for President

(October 15, 2012 — Iqaluit, Nunavut) Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. Chief Returning Officer Adamee Itorcheak announced today that nomination period for the election of NTI president runs from Oct. 29 – Nov.2, 2012.
The election will take place Dec. 10, 2012. Voters can also head to advance polls Dec. 3, 2012, and can also vote by proxy.
Eligible candidates must be Canadian citizens, at least 16 years of age, and be enrolled under the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement.
Nomination forms can be obtained from the CRO, Community Liaison Officers, or from NTI’s website Eligible candidates must file their nomination papers with the Chief Returning Officer no later than 5 p.m. local time on Nov. 2, 2012.
Candidates are responsible for ensuring that nomination papers sent to the CRO are received. If nomination papers are not received by deadline, a potential candidate will not be permitted to run in the NTI elections.
Potential candidates may withdraw their nomination papers until 5 p.m. local time on Nov. 5, 2012.
