Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. Announces Phase III of Indigenous Community Support Funding Allocation

(December 8, 2020, Iqaluit, Nunavut) Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated (NTI) announces $8 million in additional supports to address food security and on-the-land physical distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The funding will be divided based on an agreed-upon formula in specified amounts itemized below;

Nunavut Tunngavik Inc .           $593,765.00

Qikiqtani Inuit Association       $2,008,101.00 (including $663,665 for the affected community)

Kivalliq Inuit Association          $4,763,460.00 (including $4,242,580 for affected communities)

Kitikmeot Inuit Association     $634,684.00

NTI’s allocated funding will be held as a contingency in the event that further COVID-19 outbreaks occurred in Nunavut and is to be distributed by NTI in accordance with the approved formula and in consultation with the RIAs.

Kivalliq Inuit Association and Qikiqtani Inuit Association are receiving additional amounts to account for the direct impact to the affected communities of Arviat, Rankin Inlet, Whale Cove and Sanikiluaq.

These funds come from the Government of Canada’s Indigenous Community Support Fund.
