Nunavut Tunngavik Foundation reopens application period for students

(November 4, 2019 – Iqaluit, Nunavut) Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated (NTI) President Aluki Kotierk is pleased to announce that Nunavut Tunngavik Foundation (NTF) scholarship applications will be accepted until November 30, 2019.

“I am encouraged to know that there are many Inuit students pursuing Post-Secondary education and that we can support them through the Nunavut Tunngavik Foundation”, said President Kotierk.

Eligible students who wish to apply and did not have a chance to do so earlier this year may apply for the following Scholarship Programs:

a) $1,000 per recipient, for up to 133 students, for attending a recognized program related to trades/employment skill development that is four weeks or longer in duration (including pre-trades, G.R.E.A.T, etc.) or upgrading (i.e., A.B.E, P.A.S.S., Foundation Year etc.).
b) $2,500 for the Post-Secondary Scholarship, for up to 172 students, enrolled in a recognized college or university of two years or longer for a degree program or a preparatory program that leads to a degree program.

For futher information, refer to the scholarship policies at www.tunngavik.com. Please read the Application Form and Guide carefully and be sure to include all necessary information, including Nunavut Inuit Enrollment Number, proof of Identification and proof of education program attendance.

Program information and application forms can also be obtained from a Community Liaison Officer (all Nunavut communities) and at one of NTI’s offices in Iqaluktuutiak, Kangiqliniq or Iqaluit. Scholarship applications can be submitted by mail, email, fax or in person at the contacts provided below before November 30 @ 5:00 PM CT.

Following the summer 2019 call for applicants, 143 scholarships were awarded by Nunavut Tunngavik Foundation (NTF) to Inuit students enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement to support them in their studies. The NTF was created by NTI to manage surplus funds from the Common Experience Payment Fund of the Residential School Settlement Agreement.
