(December 7, 2004 — Iqaluit, Nunavut) Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. will broadcast a 90-minute televised Year-in-Review program on the Aboriginal People’s Television Network (APTN) on December 16, 2004.
President Paul Kaludjak, 1st Vice-President and Vice-President of Finance James Eetoolook and 2nd Vice-President Raymond Ningeocheak will all participate in the broadcast, organized to give NTI the opportunity to inform Beneficiaries of the initiatives being undertaken to better the quality of life in Nunavut.
Each member will focus on the portfolios they are responsible for, including land claims implementation, economic development, the Plain Language Guide to the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement, land and water use in Nunavut, wildlife, Nunavut’s emerging fisheries, and the health of Inuit financial interests.
We are excited about the opportunity to update Beneficiaries on the activities that have kept us busy during the past year, said Kaludjak. Initiatives like this allow us to communicate with the people we represent. It’s a good way to be accountable to Inuit, he said.
The informational program is designed to update Beneficiaries on the accomplishments made by the organization in 2004. The program will also provide information about NTI, its mandate and activities during the past year.
Viewers will be given the opportunity to call in on a toll-free line, or to send comments via e-mail, expressing comments or asking questions of NTI’s Executive Members.
“We’re especially happy to be able to put together a show that gives Inuit viewers the opportunity to call in and tell us what they think about what we’re doing. We’re always happy to speak to our people in Nunavut, said Kaludjak.
Well-known broadcaster and former CBC personality Moses Atagoyuk will host the Inuktitut broadcasts, scheduled to run from 9 – 10:30 p.m. EST.
