NR 05-44 YIR ENG Year in Review Broadcast.doc
(November 30, 2005 — Iqaluit, Nunavut) Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. will broadcast a two-hour Year-in-Review live, televised program on the Aboriginal People’s Television Network (APTN) Northern Service on Dec. 8, 2005 from 7-9 p.m. EST.
President Paul Kaludjak, 1st Vice-President and Vice-President of Finance James Eetoolook and 2nd Vice-President Raymond Ningeocheak will all participate in the broadcast with well-known host and former CBC personality Moses Atagoyuk.
NTI organizes the annual Year-in-Review Program to give Beneficiaries the opportunity to call in and express their concerns and ask questions. The informational program will also update Beneficiaries on the accomplishments made by NTI in 2005.
I know Inuit have a lot of questions about the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement, and the work that NTI does on their behalf, and the Executive is more than happy to take their calls and answer their e-mails, said Kaludjak. This annual program provides NTI and Inuit with a two-way information sharing session. This is important as we continue to try to achieve the maximum benefits from the NLCA.
.Because there has been a great deal of interest from our Beneficiaries, I also expect that the residential school compensation settlement agreement announced by the Government of Canada recently will be a topic of discussion. Inuit have a lot of questions about what this settlement means to them, and we can use this venue to provide important information to our audience, said Kaludjak.
“By speaking to Inuit in Nunavut, we are able to connect with our Beneficiaries on a regular basis, he said.
This is the third annual Year-in-Review Program hosted by NTI.
