(May 13, 2008 — Iqaluit, Nunavut) Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement on July 9, 2008. In honour of this event, NTI will host a number of special initiatives this summer, many of which have as their common theme the number 15.

NTI President Paul Kaludjak said one such initiative includes a contest for 15-year-old Inuit youth. Called The 606 Contest, the event is designed for Inuit Beneficiaries born between Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 1993.

If you are one of 606 registered Nunavut Beneficiaries in this age group, we want to know what Nunavut and the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement means to you. Tell us what you think about any aspect of this topic in a short video or audio recording, or a written essay, said Kaludjak.

A panel of NTI judges will review submissions and select a winner from each region of Nunavut. The names of the three winners will be announced on Nunavut Day during the celebrations in Iqaluit. Cash prizes of $1,500 will be awarded to each winner.

Submissions are due June 20, 2008 at 5 p.m. EDT. Copies of the rules and regulations, as well as consent forms, are available from NTI or on the website.
Entries may be submitted in Inuktitut, Inuinnaqtun or English.
