NTF Launches Fourth Inuktuuqta! Inuktut Writing Prize

(April 3, 2025 – Iqaluit, Nunavut) NTI President, and chair of the Nunavut Tunngavik Foundation (NTF) Jeremy Tunraluk is pleased to launch the fourth iteration of the Inuktuuqta! Inuktut Writing Prize. Inuktuuqta! will award one Nunavut Inuk author a grand prize of $80,000 and supports to complete a full-length book in Inuktitut or Inuinnaqtun. Similar to previous years, four additional prizes will be awarded. NTF will work with the winning authors to complete and publish their works.

“I encourage all Nunavut Inuit who are the slightest bit interested to submit their ideas to do so.” Said NTI President Tunraluk. “This is a wonderful prize that provides an opportunity for Inuit to think and write creatively in Inuktut, and our language is worth being celebrated.”

Since the creation in 2020, Inuktuuqta! was awarded over $280,000.00 in prizes to emerging Inuit authors. Past recipients include Looee Arreak, Susan Tigullaraq and most recently Donna Adams.
