NTI Announces Date Change for Jose Amaujaq Kusugak Scholarship

Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI) today announced a date change for the application period for the Jose Amaujaq Kusugak Scholarship. NTI will now accept applications for the scholarship from April 1-May 31 each year. NTI’s president will announce the winners on Nunavut Day during the annual festivities.

The scholarship awards two Inuit each with $5,000 to pursue studies at accredited post-secondary institutions in the areas of education and Inuit language, or in other areas if there is a link between their studies and the promotion of Inuit rights. Eligible students may attend Nunavut Arctic College or academic institutions in southern Canada. An NTI jury reviews the applications and selects students based on their fields of study, written essay, and references. NTI developed the scholarship in cooperation with the late Jose Kusugak’s family. A member of his family continues to hold a seat on the jury each year.

Additional information and application forms are available on the NTI website.
