(January 24, 2008 — Iqaluit, Nunavut) Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. President Paul Kaludjak announced today that Niore Iqalukjuak of Arctic Bay won NTI’s 2007 Photo of the Year Contest. Iqalukjuak won $1,000 in prize money and an enlarged copy of his photograph after a selection committee composed of NTI employees judged the 2007 winners of the Photo of the Month Contest.

I offer my congratulations to Niore, and I strongly encourage Inuit to continue submitting their photographs to the ongoing contest. I am pleased that it has become so popular among Inuit and I am glad to see our publications displaying the submissions we receive each month, said Kaludjak. The images in our reports and magazines now better represent Inuit in all of our communities.

. A team of NTI employees judges the entries and selects a winner each month. Monthly winners are then entered into the Photo of the Year Contest. Inuit can submit photos of landscapes, communities and wildlife. Pictures of people will be considered, although photographers must have the people who appear in their pictures complete and sign photo release forms. Photographers who enter the contest must also complete a photographer consent form.

All forms can be downloaded from NTI’s website or obtained from NTI’s Department of Communications. Forms must be completed and signed and submitted with the photograph.

Iqalukjuak’s photo, and all other submissions, can be viewed online at
