2014-2024 Nunavut Economic Development Strategy Survey

This survey is being conducted by the Nunavut Economic Forum (NEF) as part of the renewal of the Nunavut Economic Development Strategy (NEDS-2) for 2014-2024. NEDS-2 will help shape economic development in Nunavut, and this survey will provide all Nunavummiut with a voice in that process.
The NEF want to know what Nunavummiut think about their future, and ensure that their needs and concerns are reflected in NEDS-2.

State of Inuit Culture and Society Annual Report Released

Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. President Cathy Towtongie today released the Annual Report on the State of Inuit Culture and Society, entitled The Nunavut Inuit Health Survey: Understanding its Influence and Legacy. This annual report covers the fiscal years 2011/12 and 2012/13.

NTI Hires Personal Education Credit Staff

Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. today announced that two staff were hired to help administer the Personal Education Credit program. Donna Adams and Paul Sammurtok were hired to assist former residential school students in Nunavut access the program.

NTI Announces 2013 Photo of the Year Contest Winners

Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. officials today selected the 2013 Photo of the Year Contest winners. Jeeteeta Merkosak of Pond Inlet was awarded $1,000 in prize money for her Narwhal at the Floe Edge photograph, an enlarged copy of her photograph, and the honour of having her photograph appear as the cover of NTI’s annual report and ad template artwork.

Personal Credit Program Implementation Co-ordinators: Two Term Positions – January 2014 – May 2015

The Personal Credit Program is a component of the Residential School Settlement Agreement in which former residential school students will be entitled to non-cash credits to be applied towards educational institutions, including for Inuit culture, history and language programs if they so wish to attend such programs.  The Personal Credit will also be transferrable to family members of a former residential school student.
