Under the direction of the Director of Wildlife, the Wildlife Biologist Intern will develop skills and knowledge to manage wildlife in Nunavut through the implementation of Inuit responsibilities under the Nunavut Agreement, with increasing responsibility over time. This position is to support a Nunavut Inuk to obtain the skills and knowledge, through a supported internship, to become a Wildlife Biologist. The internship will be customized based on the individual’s experience, education and personal circumstances and may include accredited Inuktut training; obtaining a Bachelor and/or master’s degree in biology; on the job training; working with a mentor to obtain skills and knowledge in Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit. A training plan will be developed with the Intern and may be adjusted based on experience.
The ideal candidate will have a growth mindset, a desire to improve yourself, willingness to keep an open mind and learn, desire to work for Inuit and demonstrated interest in wildlife and environment, Inuit rights and the Nunavut Agreement.
Preference will be given to Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement.
Starting salary is $88,887.00 per annum (commensurate with experience) a comprehensive benefit package including an employee pension plan, group insurance and vacation travel assistance.
Housing allowance of $35,232.00
