Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer; this position will direct and manage the development and implementation of programming that is specifically designed for establishing and sustaining Inuit leadership and participation in the Addictions and Trauma Treatment System for Nunavut. This will be done, in part, through the creation of strong links between all three pillars identified through the Feasibility for Addictions and Trauma treatment in Nunavut. This includes the Nunavut Recovery Centre (Pillar 2) and community-based on-the-land addictions programming in all three regions of Nunavut (Pillar 1), as well as program development for the Nunavut Recovery Centre and encompasses the policies, procedures and organizational charts and staffing plans necessary to ensure Inuit are employed by the Nunavut Recovery Centre an in pre and post care (Pillar 3). You as the successful candidate will work across Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI) departments to facilitate an organizational-wide approach to NTI’s partnership in the Addictions and Trauma System Project with the Government of Nunavut and Indigenous Services Canada (through the Nunavut Partnership Table on Health).
To be invited for an interview; the incumbent will possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and 3 years related experience or a diploma in a relevant field and 6 years of related experience (e.g: policy and program development, Inuit Counsellor training, trauma and addictions, human resource development, etc.). You will have good knowledge of the Nunavut Agreement and NTI’s Mission, specifically Article 32; knowledge of Social & Cultural issues in Nunavut; demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to Inuit issues; knowledge of regional, territorial, national and international Inuit organizations. You must also have proven ability to work in a politically sensitive environment, and ability to work under high levels of stress/pressure, and experience in negotiating with all levels of Governments.
Preference will be given to Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement.
Starting salary is $132,756.00 per annum (commensurate with experience) with $24,000.00 Northern and Housing allowance and a comprehensive benefit package including an employee pension plan, group insurance and vacation travel assistance.
