Under the direction of the Wildlife Director, the Wildlife Advisor will provide advice on the implementation of Inuit wildlife harvesting rights and Inuit responsibility related to wildlife management and the natural resource industry in Nunavut under the Nunavut Agreement. The Advisor will participate in the development of plans, policies and procedures to ensure that Nunavut wildlife and/or natural resources are managed in such a way as to maximize their benefit to Inuit of Nunavut.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in a related discipline; a minimum of (3) years of research and policy development experience and 5 years of wildlife management and/or wildlife law enforcement experience. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of the Nunavut Agreement and Inuit Rights, and extensive knowledge in policy development and research. You will be aware and understand relevant Acts relating to wildlife management as deemed appropriate, furthermore you will have the ability to analyze and interpret policy, legislation and regulations. The ability to make effective presentations with a variety of means and audiences and to work co-operatively with a variety of individuals and groups, both government and claimant(s). You will be a good team player, self-motivated and directed, have good organizational skills, effective oral and written communication skills and good interpersonal skills. The ability to speak Inuktitut or Inuinnaqtun is considered an asset.

Starting salary is $89,977 per annum (commensurate with experience) with $24,000.00 Northern and Housing allowance and a comprehensive benefit package including an employee pension plan, group insurance and vacation travel assistance.
