Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. Election for President Update

(January 29, 2021 – Iqaluit, Nunavut) Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated (NTI) Election for President has your safety in mind.

In most Nunavut communities:

  • Advanced polls will be on February 1, 2021, from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm local time;
  • Election Day, February 8, 2021, polls will be open from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm local time; and
  • Mobile polls, voters can request a physical distancing, no contact, mobile ballot, you can schedule with your local Community Liaison Officer.

In Arviat, all voters are asked to call the Community Liaison Officer for a physical distancing, no contact polling. A poll clerk will bring the ballot and a ballot box directly to the voter’s address and wait outside or come back at a later time for the ballot. No contact polling has been designed to protect you and the polling clerks. No contact polling will be available in Arviat for extended hours:

  • February 1 from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm; local time
  • February 2 – 5 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm; local time daily; and
  • February 8 from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm; local time.

Voters can vote by proxy. Voters can contact the Chief Returning Officer or go to http://elections.tunngavik.com to download the application.

All mail-in ballots containing the original election date of December 14, 2020 are valid and will be counted at the close of the election on February 8, 2021.
