Nunavut Harvesters Support Program Relaunched

Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI) Vice-President James Eetoolook announced today that the Nunavut Harvesters Support Program (NHSP) would be relaunched April 1, 2017.

The purpose of NHSP is to preserve and advance Nunavut Inuit harvesting culture, heritage and traditional ways of life. The new programs include the Community Hunt Program and the Harvesting Equipment Program, which is made up of the small harvesting equipment program, the safety equipment program and the disaster relief program.

“After analyzing the former programs that were offered, NTI has relaunched the Nunavut Harvesters Support Program to make it more relevant and responsive to the needs of Inuit harvesters. NHSP is intended to help alleviate poverty and give Inuit funding assistance to purchase harvesting activities,” said Eetoolook.

Applications and information will be available April 1 on NTI’s website, from Hunters and Trappers Organizations and Community Liaison Officers.
