Nunavut Day Celebrations

(July 4, 2025 – Iqaluit, Nunavut) Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI) is pleased to share the Nunavut Day Schedule of Activities this year, featuring online contests, a radio call in show, in-person celebrations, and return of the Snowmobile and ATV Draws in every Nunavut community.

Online Contests
The online contests this year will kick off on Nunavut Day, July 9th and submissions will be open until Friday, July 25th at 5pm E.T. All Nunavut Inuit, regardless of where they live, are eligible to submit an entry to the contests. The online contests include:
Inuktitut Song Challenge for children ages 4 – 11 years: Record and send in a video of your child singing their favourite song in Inuktitut. Ten prizes will be awarded.
On The Land Art Contest for youth ages 12 – 16 years: Create an art piece showcasing natural materials from the land. Ten prizes will be awarded.
Decorating Contest for adults ages 16 + years: Decorate a vehicle/boat, shed/cabin, or house to celebrate Nunavut Day for a chance to win 1 of 10 $500 prizes.

Online contest winners will be announced on Friday, August 1st, 2025.

Call in Show
On Tuesday, July 8th, the CBC Tausuni afternoon Show will open their lines to Nunavut Inuit to call in and share a funny story with listeners. Names of callers will be added to a draw and ten winners will be randomly drawn to win $250 pre-paid visa gift cards.

In-Person Celebrations
• In Iqaluit: Concert, BBQ, Contests, Kids Activities, Door Prizes at Nakasuk School Grounds from 12 – 4pm ET.
• In Rankin Inlet: Parade starting outside Hamlet office at 12pm, followed by Concert, BBQ, Kids Activities, Door Prizes outside AEM Arena from 1 – 4pm CT.
• In Cambridge Bay: BBQ, Kids Activities, Games and giveaways at the Ball Diamond from 1 – 4pm MT.

Many thanks to the Kitikmeot Inuit Association and Hamlet of Cambridge Bay staff for taking lead in planning the celebrations in the community this year.

Snowmobile and ATV Draws:
NTI will be doing the Snowmobile and ATV Draws in every Nunavut community again this year. All Nunavut Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement will be automatically entered to the draws but must be residing in the community in which their name is drawn. There is an exemption for those living elsewhere for long-term medical and education.

Winners will be verified and announced on Nunavut Day, July 9th.
