NTI Releases New Elections Expense Rules and Codes of Conduct

(December 10, 2003 — Iqaluit, Nunavut) Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. has developed new Election Expense Rules and Codes of Conduct that all NTI Elections candidates are required to follow when running in the land claims organization’s elections. The new rules were approved during NTI’s Annual General Meeting in Sanikiluaq last month.

The positions of President and 2nd Vice-President are up for election March 16, 2004.

The documents include NTI Campaign Contributions and Expense Rules, NTI Elections Code of Conduct for Candidates and NTI Elections Code of Conduct for Employees. The new rules ensure NTI’s election policies and procedures continue to be efficient, effective, clear and transparent.

Highlights of the policies include strict rules about who candidates may and may not accept campaign contributions from, amounts of money that may be accepted as campaign contributions, how and when NTI employees may support candidates and rules of conduct candidates must follow when campaigning.
