The deadline to apply to carve the monument to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement is this week, March 31, 2011.

Once the deadline closes, Nunavut Tunngavik Inc.’s selection committee will meet and jury the applications. NTI will select one carver from each region of Nunavut to create the monument. Each carver will also work with an apprentice on the project.

The team will travel to Iqaluit over the next three summers to design, carve, and install the monument. It will be unveiled on the NLCA’s 20th anniversary on July 9, 2013.

NTI will select the artists based upon their previous experience, and their ideas for the project
