Cathy Towtongie, James Eetoolook, and Jack Anawak Elected to NTI Board of Directors

(December 14, 2010 — Iqaluit, Nunavut) Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. Chief Returning Officer Lori Idlout this morning announced the unofficial results of the by-election for president and election for two vice-president positions.

Cathy Towtongie was elected president and will serve until 2012.

James Eetoolook and Jack Anawak were elected vice-president until 2014. The NTI Board of Directors will now assign the successful vice-president candidates either the role of Chair of Nunavut Social Development Council or Chair of Inuit Wildlife Advisory Council.

The voter turnout was approximately 35 per cent. Inuit who are Canadian citizens, 16 years of age and older, and enrolled under the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement were permitted to vote in yesterday’s election.
