Call for proposals: Inuktut Education Innovation Fund

(November 7, 2021, Iqaluit, Nunavut) Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI) announces a Call for Proposals for the newly established Inuktut Education Innovation Fund. The Inuktut Education Innovation Fund was created to provide and enhance opportunities for Inuit to advance Inuit Language and Culture education in Nunavut’s Education system.

“On International Inuit Day I am very pleased to announce the establishment of the Inuktut Education Innovation Fund. As Inuit, we are creative, capable and the experts of our language and culture. This fund provides an opportunity for Inuit to use our skills and knowledge to take innovative measures to create an education system that is reflective of our distinct and rich language and culture.”

said NTI President Aluki Kotierk.

Funding from the Inuktut Education Innovation Fund can be applied towards:

  • research on innovative measures, education methods, curriculum development and best practices in the delivery of education in Inuit Language and Culture; and
  • development of key resources, professional development opportunities and networks that provide for a system of supports to Inuit educators.

The Inuktut Education Innovation Fund is funded in part by the Federal Government Department of Canadian Heritage and is a part of NTI’s efforts as we take innovative measures for Inuktut education.
