Under the direction of the Director of Communications the Senior Writer with Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI) is responsible for providing strategic communications and writing for the Communications department and for the whole organization. This position is responsible for leading the development and implementation of strategic communications materials — such as, but not limited to the International Decade of Indigenous Languages, the State of Inuit Culture and Society, the NTI Annual Report and for the self-government review. The position is responsible for communications planning, communications research, strategic communications and writing.
To be invited for an interview; you must have an Undergraduate degree in communications, journalism, or related field of education, training and/or experience. The ability to assess communication issues/requirements and provide recommendations for resolutions. High level of experience in completing projects from conceptualization to completion and final reporting. Thorough and precise in carrying out projects to ensure all parties including Senior Management and Board of Directors are provided with accurate information upon which to speak publicly and to and through the media. Experience coordinating and writing communications strategies, plans and resources. English /Inuktut (preferable), Cultural sensitivity and awareness of Inuit issues. Excellent interpersonal / relationship skills. Discretion, judgment and high respect for privacy and confidential matters. Experience working with Indigenous organizations.
Preference will be given to Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement.
Starting salary is $126,768.00 per annum (commensurate with experience) a comprehensive benefit package including an employee pension plan, group insurance and vacation travel assistance.
NTI provides a variety of housing supports to employees including down payment assistance and housing allowance of $27,600.
