Under the direction of the Program Manager, Missing Inuit Children of Residential Schools, the Program Researcher will develop plans to advance the search for information related to the Missing Inuit Children of Residential Schools. This position will play a critical role in the gathering of evidence-based research to advance the search of Missing Inuit Children of Residential Schools and unmarked graves.

The Program Researcher will conduct research utilizing a variety of methodologies to review current data and investigate additional evidence. The Program Researcher will be responsible for interpreting research specifications and appropriate plans in conjunction with the Program Manager. The Program Researcher will be required to visit Libraries and Archives and have the appropriate background knowledge on how to navigate these information systems.

This position will assist the Program Manager in formulating research plans, conduct and gather information, review evidence collected, analyze, and interpret data, and present the information in reports, papers and briefing notes, with a specific focus on Nunavut Inuit Children.

To be invited for an interview; requires a highly motivated individual who is a self-starter and has experience in research. You will possess strong writing and verbal communication, planning and research skills with the ability to work independently. The Program Researcher must have the ability to work with demanding deadlines under high levels of stress and be able to travel. Educational requirement is a bachelor’s degree in Research or a similar trait plus two years related experience or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience. Ability to speak in the Inuit language is necessary. Preference will be given to Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement.

Starting salary is $94,602.00 per annum (commensurate with experience) a comprehensive benefit package including an employee pension plan, group insurance and vacation travel assistance.

Housing allowance of $27,600.
