Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Research, Monitoring and Evaluation, the
Nunavut Research Advisor will advance the NTI research agenda by participating in,
coordinating, and monitoring research activities in Nunavut. This position will play a critical role
to advance Inuit self-determination in research, to ensure Inuit values are respected, and to
ensure priorities and concerns of Inuit in Nunavut are being addressed. You as the successful
candidate, will assist the Senior Research Advisor in the coordination and review of research
applications. You will lead and coordinate the regional reviews of ArcticNet and North by North
research proposals and reports as well as represent NTI as a second member of the Inuit
Advisory Committee. This position will lead the coordination and regional review of Northern
Contaminants Program (NCP) research proposals, reports, and communications activities in
Nunavut and will serve as a co-chair of the Nunavut Environmental Contaminants Committee
To be invited for an interview; the knowledge, skills and abilities are required for this position is
Grade 12 Diploma plus 2 years related work or educational experience; proven interest or
participation in research. The knowledge of Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated’s mission and the
Nunavut Agreement and sensitivity to local, political and cultural context in Nunavut. You must
have experience in project management or other relevant skills and report writing. Proven
ability to deal with simultaneously with multiple files, proven ability to work well independently
or in a team environment. Excellent organizational skills including effective time management
and effective oral and written skills in English, the ability to speak Inuktut or Inuinnaqtun, or
willingness to learn is a requirement.
Preference will be given to Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement.
Starting salary is $94,483.00 per annum (commensurate with experience) a comprehensive
benefit package including an employee pension plan, group insurance and vacation travel
Housing allowance of $27,600.
