Director, Department of Inuit Programs and Services

Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. (NTI), the Director of Inuit Programs and Services will plan, direct and manage the administration of the Department at NTI including the Nunavut Hunter’s Support Secretariat (NHSS), Enrolment, Educational Programs including NTI Scholarships and Residential School Settlement Surplus Funds and other Programs that NTI may establish and administer from time to time.

The Director of Inuit Programs and Services is responsible for six (6) employees, and together, the department creates the strategic direction and Implementation of Inuit Programs and Services to ensure it reflects NTI’s and the Nunavut Agreement’s priorities, goals and objectives. The Director will develop and oversee all Inuit Programs and Services in creating, developing, re-designing and implementing Community Engagement Strategies, Annual Budgets, manage expenditures and staff within the Division, including related functions, procedures, systems and policies at NTI to ensure effective internal and external communications between NTI and its target audiences.

Applicants must have a degree or diploma in Business Administration/Management Studies or formal course work and a minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in northern program management. Financial and budgeting management experience is required. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and leadership skills, be able to communicate effectively with community organizations, government and non-government organizations.  The successful candidate will also have a thorough knowledge of the Nunavut Agreement.  Preference will be given to Inuit who are enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement.

Starting salary is $129,209.00 per annum (commensurate with experience) and a comprehensive benefit package including an employee pension plan, group insurance and vacation travel assistance.

NTI provides a variety of housing supports to employees including down payment assistance and housing allowance of $27,600.
