Catholic churches opened up in Resolute Bay and Grise Fiord in the late 1960’s. Many Inuit attended weekly service, which were often at people’s houses as there was not a formal place of worship at this time. This photo, taken between 1955-57, shows a Christmas services at Upper Base (at the airport) in Resolute Bay.
