NTI Announces 2009 Photo of the Year Contest Winner

(December 18, 2009 — Iqaluit, Nunavut) Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. President Paul Kaludjak announced today that Steven Lonsdale of Iqaluit won NTI’s Photo of the Year Contest for 2009. Lonsdale won $1,000 in prize money and an enlarged copy of his photograph after a selection committee composed of NTI employees judged the 2009 winners of the Photo of the Month Contest.

Leena Koonoo of Pond Inlet took second place and won $200 and an enlarged copy of her photo, and Joyce Angalik of Arviat took third place and won $100 and an enlarged copy of her photo.

“To illustrate NTI’s commitment to the contest and to show how important it is, we will highlight the winning photograph in very prominent ways throughout the year,” said Kaludjak. “Many of the photos submitted are great portraits of Inuit lifestyle and traditions.”

NTI has also made it easier for contestants to enter by filling out the forms and uploading their photographs directly from the NTI website.

The contest is open to all Beneficiaries of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement. Lonsdale’s photo, and all other monthly winners, can be viewed online at www.tunngavik.com.
